NEWS Updated November 2011

DOCK MUSEUM SHOW

Many thanks to all those people who were able to visit the exhibition.....and many more apologies to those who did not even know it was on because there was minimal advertising and promotion. I had offered to hold seminars, talks and workshops to interested groups like schools and colleges and art groups but nothing seems to have been done about it. It took FOUR weeks to convince the "organiser" to put up information about the work and the artist in the exhibition space...Hey Ho!! Middle management eh?
It is all such a waste of such a good space. If THIS gallery were available in a major city there would be a queue around the block.
John

Comments by visitors to the exhibition....obviously just some of the best:-

"John Hewitt's work is absolutely fantastic. It is so fresh and inspiring. Very well displayed with excellent use of light, space and shadow"
C.M.H. N. Yorks

"Fantastic use of colour - it draws the eye.
The titles of pieces are humorous and fitting - A Golden Barb is Still a Barb....How true!
Great Exhibition! Thank You."
L.H. Workington

"Very interesting compositions. Highly intriguing - hard to pull your eye away from. I find myself trying to figure out HOW the works are made!"
R.G. Barrow-in-Furness

"Thought provoking and very tempting. Colours mix briliantly. I could sit for hours seeing different levels and depths"
M. M. Chesterfield

"John Hewitt's work shows great originality with an amazing sense of flow, yet also juxtaposition of contrasting and competing forms (shapes).Use of colour is often unexpected yet dramatic. The works give a great sense of movement. A few are more restful and create an impression of calm. I particularly liked the 3 D effects which instantly draws the eye. An unusual and very welcome exhibition which I have enjoyed."
M. H.

"WOW!" I have been coming on and off to the Dock Museum for the last 3 years. Of all the exhibitions I have seen here, this is the best yet.
It beats the trips I have made to Tate Modern and the R.A. in London over the last few years.
Damien Hurst and Tracey Emin's work is mainly junk compared to this."
Mike

"I don't usually like Modern Art but this exhibition has given me a new perspective. The designs are colourful, imaginative and bold. They are accessible to the uninitiated without being overly simplistic and make a very favourable impression. Well done!"
R.G. Scotland
